Supporting Healing and Growth in Life and in Practice

About Me:
PhD, LCSW
Hi! I’m Dr. Xochilt Alamillo (she/her/ella), a Chicana social worker, therapist, educator, and speaker deeply committed to mental health, healing, and social justice. Raised in Compton, California, and the daughter of Mexican immigrants, I bring both lived experience and clinical expertise to my work. As a mother and first-generation college graduate, I know firsthand the strength it takes to navigate multiple worlds and I hold that perspective at the heart of everything I do.
I hold a PhD in Social Work from the University of Denver and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado with over a decade of experience supporting individuals and communities impacted by trauma. My research centers on Chicana adolescent suicidality and explores the cultural, systemic, and gendered factors that shape mental health experiences. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, I also specialize in working with others with this experience. This work is deeply personal and rooted in a commitment to amplifying the stories that deserve to be heard.
In addition to my clinical practice, I teach graduate level courses in social work. I also offer workshops and trainings on trauma, Latinx mental health, and cultural humility for professionals, educators, and community organizations. Through every offering, I hope to nurture individual healing while contributing to broader change in our communities.

I offer mental health therapy, organizational trainings, workshops and speaking engagements.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions or adult-diagnosed ADHD, I offer a supportive and nonjudgmental space to help you reconnect with your strengths.
I offer engaging, culturally responsive trainings and workshops that center mental health awareness and trauma-informed practice. Designed for helping professionals, these trainings provide practical tools grounded in real world experience and cultural humility.
I offer dynamic and heartfelt speaking engagements on topics such as Latinx mental health, trauma, youth well-being, cultural identity, and healing. I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience to inspire reflection, connection, and action. My talks are rooted in storytelling, cultural wisdom, and a commitment to social justice.
Culturally Responsive Care for the Issues that Matter Most to you
Many with ADHD have spent years overwhelmed or misunderstood. ADHD in women, especially Women of Color, is often overlooked or misdiagnosed. An adult diagnosis is not uncommon and can come with it’s own challenges. You may have learned to mask your symptoms, push through burnout, or carry self-doubt despite your resilience. In therapy, we create space to unlearn shame, understand how ADHD uniquely shows up in your life, and build tools that work for you.
Trauma can take many forms, including childhood trauma, relational trauma, systemic oppression, immigration-related stress, and intergenerational wounds. For many, trauma is often layered, complex, and shaped by cultural and historical contexts. You may have learned to push through, to stay strong, or to minimize your pain to survive. In therapy, we create a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore and process what you’ve carried. Healing here isn’t about “getting over it”, but about reclaiming your story.
Anxiety and depression can show up in so many ways! For many, these experiences are shaped by cultural expectations, intergenerational stress, and the pressure to succeed in systems that often overlook or misunderstand us. You may carry perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the weight of silence around emotional pain. In therapy, we create space to name these patterns with compassion, explore their roots, and build tools that help you feel more grounded, connected and whole.

With a focus on mental health awareness, cultural humility, and real-world application, my trainings equip helping professionals with the tools they need to show up with care, confidence, and compassion. Each workshop is rooted in trauma-informed principles and shaped by lived experience. Training also prioritize the wellbeing of professionals, offering strategies to avoid or navigate burnout, build resilience, and sustain their vital work with care.
Whether you’re looking for individual therapy, a community training, or a space to explore collaboration, I’d love to connect. Reach out with your questions, share what you’re looking for, or let me know how I can support you.
